How I Design Teacher-Friendly Classroom Resources That Save Time

When I design classroom resources, I don’t start with trends or flashy ideas.
I start with teachers.

I start with the reality of teaching—the long days, the limited prep time, the endless expectations, and the genuine desire to do right by students without burning out. Every resource I create is shaped by one simple question:

“Would this actually help a teacher in a real classroom?”

If the answer is no, it doesn’t get published.

I Design for Real Classrooms, Not Perfect Ones

Teachers don’t need more complicated materials. They need resources that work—on regular days, on chaotic days, and on the days when energy is low but learning still has to happen.

That’s why I design my resources to be:

  • Print-and-go or low prep

  • Easy to understand and easy to use

  • Flexible for whole group, small group, centers, or intervention

  • Focused on essential skills, not fluff

I know firsthand that when planning takes too long, it steals time from everything else—family, rest, and even joy. My goal is to give teachers back some of that time.

I Always Think About Teacher Workflow

When I’m creating a resource, I’m constantly thinking:

  • Can this be prepped quickly?

  • Are the directions clear?

  • Can this be reused more than once?

  • Does this support differentiation without extra work?

That’s why many Education Wonders resources include teacher directions, student recording sheets, and answer keys. Teachers shouldn’t have to guess how to use a resource or spend extra time creating supporting materials.

Everything is designed to slide smoothly into your existing routine—not add another layer to manage.

Skill-Focused and Purposeful by Design

I’m intentional about focusing on 3rd - 5th Grade key reading skills teachers actually teach—things like text features, context clues, text structure, central idea, and comprehension strategies.

These are skills students need across subject areas, and teachers need resources that reinforce them without overwhelming students or teachers.

Each resource is created with the purpose of:

  • Supporting mastery

  • Encouraging critical thinking

  • Making instruction more effective—not more complicated

Designed by a Teacher, for Teachers

Education Wonders exists because I understand what it’s like to be in the classroom and feel stretched thin. I create resources the way I wish resources had been created for me—with empathy, practicality, and respect for a teacher’s time.

I don’t believe teachers should have to choose between quality instruction and their own well-being. Thoughtfully designed resources can support both.

Why This Matters to Me

Teaching is more than a job—it’s emotional, personal, and demanding. When teachers feel supported, students benefit too. That’s why every resource I design is created with intention and care, always keeping teachers at the center of the process.
