Why I Love Creating TPT Resources—Even on the Overwhelming Days
I truly love creating classroom resources for teachers everywhere. Designing lessons, task cards, and print-and-go activities allows me to stay connected to the classroom in a meaningful way. Even though I’m no longer teaching full time, my heart is still very much rooted in supporting educators and students. Knowing that something I created can save a teacher time or help a student gain confidence is what fuels my passion for this work.
That said, there are days when the overwhelm creeps in. The constant planning, aligning to standards, designing, revising, and trying to keep up can feel like a lot. On those days, my creativity feels stretched thin, and my mind feels crowded with expectations—both real and imagined. I start to question my pace and wonder if I’m doing enough, even when I know how much effort I’m putting in.
When that happens, I’ve learned the importance of stepping back. Giving myself space to pause and write helps me reconnect with my purpose. It reminds me that I don’t need to create everything at once, and that meaningful work doesn’t come from burnout. Reflection grounds me and allows me to return with clarity, renewed creativity, and a deeper appreciation for this journey.
Creating classroom resources is more than a business—it’s a continuation of who I am as a teacher. Even on the overwhelming days, I know this work matters. I know teachers everywhere are doing their very best, and if I can support them in even a small way, then this journey is worth it. I’ll continue showing up, learning, and creating—one resource at a time.
If you’re a teacher looking for no-prep, classroom-ready resources designed with intention and care, I’d love for you to explore my Teachers Pay Teachers store, Education Wonders by Johanna Gonzales, and become part of the Education Wonders community.
