Materials: Two short texts on the same topic, Venn diagram

Duration: 25 minutes

Activity:

  • Read two short texts on the same topic (e.g., two articles about penguins, two versions of a folktale)

  • Create a Venn diagram on the board

  • Model identifying similarities and differences

  • Students complete their own Venn diagram comparing the texts

  • Discuss which text was more informative/interesting and why

Assessment: Students write 3-4 sentences explaining how the texts are similar and different
